Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 50 and 85 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease using a specific set of internationally recognised diagnostic guidelines (known as NINCDS-ADRDA criteria)
- People with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease, confirmed by a memory and thinking test (called the MMSE), with scores falling within a certain range depending on their level of education

Who may not be able to join:
- People whose memory or thinking problems are caused by something other than Alzheimer's disease, such as vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, thyroid problems, vitamin deficiencies, delirium, schizophrenia, or depression
- People with serious heart, liver, kidney, or blood system conditions, or who are significantly malnourished
- People who have difficulty with speech, reduced consciousness, or are unable to cooperate with the required tests due to a physical disability
- People who are unable to have an MRI scan, for example due to claustrophobia or having a pacemaker implanted
- People currently taking blood-thinning medications such as warfarin or heparin
- People who use a pacemaker or who have received acupuncture treatment in the past 2 weeks
