Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) that has not yet been treated, and whose condition meets specific medical guidelines (from 2018) that indicate treatment is needed, with a life expectancy of more than 6 months.
  • People whose general physical health and ability to carry out daily activities meets a certain minimum level, as measured by a standard medical scale (ECOG score of 2 or below, meaning the person is not fully bedridden).
  • People whose bone marrow is producing enough blood cells on its own — without needing medication to boost blood cell production or recent blood transfusions — unless low blood counts are caused directly by the CLL itself.
  • People whose kidneys are functioning at a minimum level, as measured by a standard calculation called the Cockcroft-Gault formula, showing the kidneys are clearing at least 30 mL of fluid per minute.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have an active or uncontrolled infection at the time of screening.
  • People whose CLL has transformed into a more aggressive type of lymphoma (known as Richter's transformation).
  • People who currently have an active immune condition causing low platelet counts (immune thrombocytopenia).
