Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Children and teenagers who are older than 6 months and up to 18 years of age
  • Diagnosed with a specific type of pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs) classified as "Group I" under 2022 European heart guidelines
  • Has already been on standard medical treatment for at least 6 to 9 months, but the condition is still considered at a medium-high or high level of risk
  • Still experiencing significant symptoms, such as worsening signs of illness, fainting episodes, or problems with normal growth and development
  • The patient and their parent or guardian have agreed to take part by signing a consent form

Who may not be able to join:

  • Diagnosed with a different type of pulmonary hypertension (Groups II through V under 2022 European heart guidelines), meaning the high blood pressure in the lungs has a different underlying cause
  • The right side of the heart is functioning very poorly, based on specific heart measurements falling below certain levels (confirm with trial site)
  • The patient's overall health has seriously declined, requiring emergency intensive care or a special life-support machine called ECMO
  • A specific measurement comparing blood pressure in the lungs to blood pressure in the rest of the body is below a certain level (confirm with trial site)
  • For children aged 8 and older: unable to walk at least 150 meters in a six-minute walking test
  • No meaningful improvement in heart function was seen after trying a combination of three medications
