Who might be able to join this trial:

This trial has three separate groups. Please read the group that applies to you:

Group 1 – People with Anorexia Nervosa (AN):

  • You are female
  • You are between 18 and 55 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa (either the restrictive type or the binge-purging type) according to standard medical guidelines
  • Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is 17.5 or below (which indicates a very low body weight)
  • You are right-handed, confirmed by a standard questionnaire

Group 2 – People with Bulimia Nervosa (BN):

  • You are female
  • You are between 18 and 55 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with bulimia nervosa according to standard medical guidelines
  • Your BMI is either 17.5 or below, or 30 or above
  • You are right-handed, confirmed by a standard questionnaire

Group 3 – Healthy Volunteers (no eating disorder):

  • You are female
  • You are between 18 and 55 years old
  • You are right-handed, confirmed by a standard questionnaire
  • Your BMI is above 17.5 and below 30
  • You have not had an eating disorder or obesity in the past 5 years and do not currently have one

Who may not be able to join (applies to all groups):

  • You have physical difficulties with movement, such as a movement disorder, broken limbs, inability to move, or limb amputation, as the trial involves physical tasks
  • You have a neurological condition, a movement disorder, problems with touch or physical sensation (such as nerve damage), or have had a previous head injury
  • You are currently experiencing an active episode of schizophrenia or another psychotic disorder
  • You are pregnant
  • You are currently taking large amounts of medication due to severe or acute symptoms
  • (For healthy volunteers only) You have had an eating disorder or obesity at any point in the past 5 years, or currently have one
