Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, confirmed by a tissue biopsy within the last 6 months before joining the study
- Your prostate cancer is considered low-risk or medium-risk (meaning the cancer has not spread far, the cancer cells look relatively normal under a microscope, and your PSA blood test result is below 20 ng/ml)
- You are 20 years of age or older
- You are generally able to carry out daily activities with no or minimal limitations (confirm with trial site)
- You have agreed to have a SpaceOAR procedure (a gel spacer placed between the prostate and rectum) and have consented to take part in this clinical study
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously had prostate removal surgery or any other surgery in the lower pelvic area, including surgery for rectal cancer
- Your cancer has already spread beyond the outer layer of the prostate gland
- You have a medical condition such as a bleeding tendency that makes it unsafe to receive an injected biodegradable (dissolving) substance (confirm with trial site)
- The gel spacer injection was attempted but could not be successfully placed
- You have previously received radiation therapy to the pelvic area
- Your cancer has spread to distant parts of the body or to lymph nodes within the pelvis
- You are currently receiving or are planning to receive hormone therapy for your cancer
