Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have had a stroke (either a bleed in the brain or a blockage of blood flow to the brain), confirmed by a doctor's assessment and a brain scan
- People who have some weakness or paralysis in their arm or leg as measured by a standard stroke assessment tool (NIHSS items 5–6 score of 1 or more)
- People who are between 3 and 10 days after their stroke
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose stroke symptoms were temporary and resolved quickly (known as a transient ischaemic attack or "mini-stroke")
- People who already had significant disability before their stroke, based on a standard disability scale (Modified Rankin Scale score of 4 or higher before the stroke)
- People who have a recent or current serious bone or joint injury
- People who are not able to give their own consent to participate in the trial
