Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have had ongoing knee joint pain for at least 3 months.
- People whose body mass index (BMI) falls between 21.5 and 29.5 (a measure of body weight relative to height).
- People who have knee osteoarthritis confirmed by X-ray, rated as mild to moderate severity (grades 1 to 3 on a standard medical scale called the Kellgren-Lawrence scale).
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have rheumatoid arthritis or other diseases affecting the joints and immune system.
- People whose knee is significantly bent inward or outward (more than 10 degrees), or where the kneecap has shifted out of its normal position.
- People who have a joint deformity near the knee caused by a fracture or other past injury.
- People with a complete tear of a ligament or meniscus that causes the knee to feel unstable or locked.
- People with serious ongoing illness, blood or immune system disease, a history of severe allergic reactions, major organ failure, or an inability to walk.
- People who have received hyaluronic acid injections into the knee within the past six months.
- People whose haemoglobin (a measure of red blood cells in the blood) is below 10 g/dL, indicating anaemia.
