Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia according to standard psychiatric diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5)
• People aged 18 or older
• People who are right-handed
• People who are willing to take part and sign a consent form — or, if someone is unable to sign for themselves, a legal guardian may sign on their behalf
• People whose condition is currently stable and who have been taking the same dose of antipsychotic medication for at least 4 weeks without any changes
• People who score 10 or above on a standard memory and thinking assessment called the Montreal Cognitive Assessment

Who may not be able to join:

• People whose psychotic symptoms are caused by a condition other than schizophrenia, such as schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, intellectual disability, anxiety-related conditions, or substance or alcohol use
• People who have a serious or unstable physical illness, or who have a history of brain tumours or epilepsy
• People who have received a type of brain stimulation treatment (MECT or TMS) in the month before enrolling
• People who have broken or damaged skin at the area where electrodes would be placed, or who have a known allergy to electrode gel or adhesive
• People who have metal implants or electronic medical devices in their body, such as a pacemaker, cochlear implant, deep brain stimulator, aneurysm clip, or certain surgical fixation devices
• People who have taken part in another clinical trial in the month before this trial's start point
• People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• People whom the trial investigators consider unsuitable for the study for any other reason (confirm with trial site)
