Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 40 and 80 years of age.

- People who can read and write in English.

- People with severe reduced blood flow to a limb, who have had an amputation below or above the knee, or who have any open sores or ulcers on the affected leg.
- People who have had a significant injury or a procedure on the affected leg within a certain timeframe before joining (confirm with trial site).
- People whose walking distance in a 6-minute walk test falls below approximately 152 metres or above approximately 488 metres.
- People with a known allergy to L-carnosine.
- People with a rare inherited condition affecting how the body processes carnosine (carnosinemia or carnosinase deficiency).
- People currently taking part in another clinical trial.
- People who have previously participated in any clinical trial involving carnosine supplements.
- People who are already taking carnosine supplements.
- People who are unable to provide a urine sample.
- People who are pregnant.
- People using two blood-thinning medications at the same time would not be included in the biopsy portion of the trial.
- People with metal objects inside their body would not be eligible for the MRI or related scan portions of the trial.
