Who might be able to join this trial:
- People of any sex between 18 and 40 years old with knee osteoarthritis that is causing symptoms
- Only one knee is affected (not both)
- There are signs and symptoms of knee osteoarthritis present
- Imaging (X-ray or MRI) shows signs of cartilage damage in the knee, graded between 1 and 3 on a standard scale (Kellgren-Lawrence scale)
- The person is able and willing to attend regular check-up appointments throughout the trial
- A signed consent form has been provided
- Pain in the knee is rated at 4 or higher on a standard 0–10 pain scale
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to give their own consent to participate
- People who have had an injection of any substance into the affected joint within the past 6 months
- People who have had knee surgery within the past 12 months
- People who have been diagnosed with cancer
- People who have a rheumatic disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis)
- People who have a metabolic disease that is not well controlled
- People who have a blood disorder affecting clotting
- People who misuse alcohol, recreational drugs, or medications
- People who have had a knee injury that was treated within the past 6 months
- People with other conditions that could affect how well the treatment results can be assessed (confirm with trial site)
