Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with ALS (either in your family history or with no known family cause), confirmed by standard diagnostic guidelines
- You are able to understand and agree to take part in the study, and can follow the study procedures as judged by the research team
- Your ALS symptoms started no more than 36 months (3 years) ago
- Your lungs are working at 40% or more of the expected capacity for a person your age and size
- You have someone (such as a family member or caregiver) who can be present during home visits as part of the study
- You have access to the internet, as some data will need to be uploaded
- You are 18 years of age or older
Who may not be able to join:
- You have another serious or unstable health condition (besides ALS) that could affect your ability to take part, as decided by the research team
- You have been diagnosed with a condition called Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS), which only affects the upper part of the nervous system
- You have a history of an unstable mental health condition, significant memory or thinking problems, dementia, or are currently misusing substances such as drugs or alcohol
- You have noticeable fluid-related swelling in your body (called pitting edema, rated 2+ or higher) that could interfere with a specific type of measurement used in this study (confirm with trial site)
- You currently have cancer, or you have previously been treated for cancer with chemotherapy or radiation therapy
- Your Body Mass Index (BMI) — a measure of body weight relative to height — is above 35
