Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older
- Your stroke symptoms started between 4.5 and 6 hours ago, based on the last time you were seen acting normally
- You are currently showing signs of an ischemic stroke (the type caused by a blockage in a blood vessel)
- Before this stroke, you were able to live largely independently with no significant disability
- Your stroke symptoms are measured as moderately severe or worse using a standard medical stroke scale (confirm with trial site)
- You are a suitable candidate for a procedure to remove the blood clot from your blood vessel
- You are able and willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- Your stroke symptoms are measured as mild on the standard medical stroke scale (confirm with trial site)
- You are unable to have an MRI scan because you feel very anxious or panicked in small, enclosed spaces
- You have a pacemaker for your heart, a brain pacemaker, or an insulin pump implanted in your body
- There is a clear medical reason why you should not have the clot-removal procedure
- Your weakness or paralysis is caused by a seizure rather than a stroke, or you have another brain or mental health condition that makes it difficult for you to cooperate with the study
- You are pregnant, currently breastfeeding, or unwilling to use reliable contraception during the trial
- You have taken part in another clinical intervention trial within the last 3 months
- The trial doctor believes that joining this trial would not be appropriate or safe for you for any other reason
