Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose breast cancer has spread from another cancer elsewhere in the body, rather than starting in the breast
  • People who have a second, separate primary cancer diagnosis
  • People who have conditions that make airwave compression therapy (a type of physical swelling treatment) unsafe, including: a recent blood clot in a vein, an acute inflammatory skin condition, a skin infection called erysipelas, an irregular heartbeat, fluid on the lungs, unstable high blood pressure, an artificial pacemaker, or deep vein inflammation with clotting
  • People with a history of mental illness or other conditions that may make it difficult to participate in the treatment as required
  • People with a history of blockages in blood vessels, heart-related swelling, liver-related swelling, or previous injuries to the upper limb (confirm with trial site)
  • People currently taking any medication that affects the balance of fluids or salts in the body
