Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older, of any gender
- People who have been confirmed through a tissue or cell sample to have squamous cell carcinoma (a specific type of cancer) of the esophagus (food pipe), at a stage where surgery is not possible (initial stage I–VIa)
- People with a general health and activity level rated at 0 or 1 on a standard medical scale, meaning they are fully active or have only minor limitations in physical activity (confirm with trial site)

- People who have completed a full course of radiation therapy to the affected area, at a dose between 50 and 60 Gy

- People who have given their written informed consent to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had another type of cancer in the past, except for certain early-stage or non-invasive cancers such as hypopharyngeal carcinoma in situ, non-malignant skin cancer, or cervical carcinoma in situ
- People who currently have an active infection, or who have had a serious illness such as a heart attack in the six months before enrolling
- People who have a history of autoimmune diseases (conditions where the immune system attacks the body's own tissues)
- People who are currently participating in another clinical trial, or who have done so within the four weeks before enrolling
- People who have already received more than four cycles of systemic treatment (chemotherapy alone, or chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy)
