Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have motor weakness in one arm or hand caused by an ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel), confirmed by medical records or brain scans.
- People who are in the chronic phase of stroke recovery, meaning their stroke occurred more than six months ago.
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old.
- People with mild-to-moderate difficulty using the affected arm and hand in daily activities, as measured by a specific arm function test called the Functional Test for the Hemiplegic Upper Extremity (levels 3–7) (confirm with trial site).
- People who are able to give written informed consent to take part in the study.
- People who are able to read and understand Traditional Chinese.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been previously diagnosed with any other neurological (brain or nervous system) condition apart from ischemic stroke.
- People who show signs of cognitive difficulties, based on a standard memory and thinking test called the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (Hong Kong version), scoring below 22 out of 30.
- People who have severe muscle stiffness (spasticity) in the hand, wrist, or elbow of the affected arm, as measured by a standard clinical scale.
- People who have other significant problems with the affected arm that are not related to stroke, such as a bone fracture in the past year, a condition present from birth, or other arm impairments.
- People who are currently taking part in any other treatment program or clinical study that involves exercise, non-invasive brain stimulation, or brain-computer interface or neurofeedback therapies.
