Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between 18 and 75 years of age
- People who have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease (CD) for at least six months before the start of the study
- People who have had bowel surgery within the 3 months before joining the study, or who have bowel surgery planned
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to give their own consent to participate
- People with serious other health conditions that a doctor considers a medical reason not to participate
- People who have a stoma (an opening on the abdomen connected to the bowel)
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People for whom a colonoscopy (camera examination of the bowel) or taking small tissue samples would not be safe
- People whose bowel was not well enough cleaned before the procedure, based on a specific preparation score (confirm with trial site)
- People who have an allergy to nuts or shellfish — this applies only to the pCLE part of the study (a special imaging technique used during the procedure)
- People with severe or poorly controlled asthma — this applies only to the pCLE part of the study
- People currently taking beta-blocker medications — this applies only to the pCLE part of the study
- People who have previously had a reaction to a dye called fluorescein — this applies only to the pCLE part of the study
Note: People who do not meet the requirements for the pCLE part of the study may still be able to take part in the standard endoscopy part of the study.
