Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who identify as part of the Black American diaspora, including Black/African American or Afro-Caribbean communities
- People between the ages of 50 and 92 years old
- People who have had ongoing or recurring pain in their bones, joints, muscles, or related soft tissues for 6 months or longer
- People who have a long-term musculoskeletal condition (such as osteoarthritis or chronic lower back pain) affecting at least one area of the lower body, such as the hip, knee, lower back, or ankle
- People who experience aching, stiffness, or swelling in a major lower body joint or the lower back on most days of the week (4–5 days out of 7)
- People who have health insurance in the state of Florida, or who a Florida health insurance plan determines to be eligible for coverage (such as Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, Aetna, or similar)
- People who are able to read, write, and understand English at around a sixth-grade level
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are not willing to be randomly assigned to either of the two study groups
- People who have been diagnosed with sickle cell disease or a related thalassemia condition
- People who have had a major neurological event such as a stroke, or who currently have a neurological disease such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, or epilepsy
- People who have had a serious heart or circulation problem in the past 6 months — such as a heart attack, heart bypass surgery, valve replacement, blood clot in the lungs, or a blood clot in a vein — or people with blood pressure that is too high or too low (confirm with trial site for exact measurements)
- People who are currently receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy to treat active cancer
- People with severe physical limitations, such as needing a wheelchair as their main way of getting around, or being unable to dress, bathe, use the toilet, or move between positions without help
- People who have been hospitalised for a serious mental health condition within the past 12 months
- People with severe hearing loss or blindness
