Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are an adult aged 18 or older who has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (confirmed by a tissue/biopsy test) and are having part of your bowel surgically removed because of narrowing or blockages in your intestine
  • You may be able to join regardless of what medications you are currently taking or have taken in the past
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding patients may also be included, as this is an observational study (one that watches and records rather than giving any new treatment)
  • You are willing and able to read and sign a consent form agreeing to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are under 18 years old or over 70 years old
  • Your diagnosis of Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis has not been officially confirmed
  • You have been found to have abnormal cell changes (dysplasia) or cancer alongside your bowel condition, or your surgery would make it impossible to carry out a follow-up camera examination (endoscopy) of the bowel afterwards
  • You are unwilling or unable to sign the consent form
