Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged between 18 and 65 years
  • People who have been diagnosed with severe, persistent, non-allergic asthma by a lung specialist, following recognised international asthma guidelines
  • People whose asthma test results show certain inflammation markers — specifically, low levels of a blood cell type called eosinophils (below 150/µL), and/or a negative skin allergy test, and/or low levels of a protein called IgE (below 30 kU/L)
  • People whose lungs show a meaningful improvement in airflow (at least 12% or 200mL) after using a reliever inhaler during breathing tests

  • People with a significant smoking history (more than 10 pack-years), or who have smoked within the past 6 months
  • People who have taken steroid tablets or liquid steroids (oral corticosteroids) in the past 4 weeks
  • People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) above 35
  • People who have been diagnosed with certain specific lung or blood vessel conditions, including Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA), Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA), or vasculitis (confirm with trial site)
  • People with a history of cancer
  • People who are pregnant
  • People who have previously had lung surgery, or who currently use long-term oxygen therapy
  • People who have certain conditions affecting the spine, joints, or muscles that would prevent reliable breathing test results or participation in rehabilitation (such as severe spinal curvature, ankylosing spondylitis, myasthenia gravis, or muscular dystrophies/myopathies)
  • People who have conditions affecting thinking, understanding, or memory — such as cognitive dysfunction, intellectual disability, or dementia — that could make it difficult to follow the study procedures or for results to be accurately interpreted
