Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Men who are having a prostate biopsy (through either the rectum or the perineum) as part of their regular medical care because prostate cancer is suspected
  • Men who are medically suitable to undergo a prostate biopsy procedure, either a standard cognitive type or a fusion type that combines imaging with the biopsy
  • Men who are having their very first prostate biopsy, or who have not had a prostate biopsy in the past 3 years
  • Men who have had a pre-biopsy MRI scan of the prostate showing one or more areas of concern rated PIRADS 3, 4, or 5 (a scoring system used by radiologists to describe how suspicious an area looks on MRI — confirm with trial site if unsure of your rating)
  • Men whose largest area of concern on the MRI measures 2 cm or smaller
  • Men whose PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood test result is 20 ng/mL or below, and/or who have an abnormal result from a digital rectal examination (a physical check of the prostate performed by a doctor)

Who may not be able to join:

  • Men whose MRI scan shows an area of concern larger than 2 cm
  • Men who have had a prostate biopsy within the past 3 years
  • Men who have previously been diagnosed with prostate cancer
  • Men who have a medical reason that makes a prostate biopsy unsafe, such as a current fever, a urinary or genital infection, or other serious health conditions as assessed by their treating doctor
