Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 28 or higher (considered overweight or obese by standard medical charts).
- You do not plan to become pregnant in the 8 months after joining the trial.
- You meet at least two of the following three conditions related to PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome):
- Your menstrual cycles are irregular — either shorter than 21 days, longer than 35 days, fewer than 8 periods per year, or any single cycle lasting more than 90 days.
- An ultrasound has shown 20 or more small follicles (fluid-filled sacs) in at least one of your ovaries.
- A blood test shows higher-than-normal testosterone levels, or a physical assessment shows signs of excess male-pattern hair growth (confirm with trial site).
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) or a pancreatic injury at any point in your life.
- You or a close family member has had a specific type of thyroid cancer (medullary thyroid cancer) or a related hormonal condition called multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2a or 2b.
- Your blood fat (triglyceride) levels are very high (above a certain level confirmed by a blood test).
- You have been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.
- You have another hormonal or glandular condition that could be causing your PCOS-like symptoms, such as thyroid problems, high prolactin levels, or other hormonal disorders (confirm with trial site).
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have a serious condition affecting your heart, liver, kidneys, or other major organs.
- You have been diagnosed with any type of cancer.
