Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with an eating disorder that includes a history of purging (such as self-induced vomiting or similar behaviors)
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You have had a history of purging for 5 years or more
- At the time of admission, you are purging or regurgitating food at least once a day
- You are being admitted to the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders and Severe Malnutrition
Who may not be able to join:
- You have an eating disorder that does not involve any purging behaviors
- You are younger than 18 or older than 65
- You already meet certain existing medical screening guidelines for a condition called Barrett's esophagus, based on having chronic acid reflux and 3 or more specific risk factors (confirm with trial site)
- You are receiving care under a legal mandate at the time of enrollment
- You are unable to give your own consent to take part in the research
