Who might be able to join this trial:

• People of any age, from newborns up to and including older adults, who are being assessed for a possible acute stroke.
• People who have shown sudden neurological symptoms (such as weakness, speech problems, or vision changes) that a paramedic or treating doctor suspects may be a stroke, where symptoms began within the last 24 hours — including people who woke up with symptoms or where the exact time symptoms started is unknown — and who are scheduled to have brain imaging as part of their standard care.
• People who had brain imaging done at another facility before arriving at the study hospital may be included from a certain point in the process onward, as long as there is no record that they refused the use of their data.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have formally objected to their personal health information being used for research, either before or during the study.
• People for whom written consent has not been provided — this consent can come from the patient themselves, a close family member, or an independent doctor acting on the patient's behalf in an emergency situation.
