Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 40 and 99 years old
- You are a native English speaker
- You are willing and able to give your consent and take part in brain scans and memory/thinking tests at scheduled visits
- You have a very mild or mild form of Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) — a condition affecting speech and language — (confirm with trial site)
- You have mild memory problems diagnosed as amnestic mild cognitive impairment (confirm with trial site)
- You are cognitively healthy but have early signs of Alzheimer's disease detected before symptoms appear (confirm with trial site)
- If you have PPA, you are able to bring a trusted person (such as a family member or friend) to all visits
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had a head injury that caused you to lose consciousness or become confused
- You have another significant brain or mental health condition
- You have a known growth, stroke damage, or other structural problem in your brain
- You have anything in your body that is not safe in an MRI scanner, such as a pacemaker, aneurysm clips, artificial heart valves, ear implants, or any metal fragments or foreign objects
- You have had a long history (more than 10 years) of heavy alcohol or drug use that continued up until your symptoms began
- You have a serious ongoing physical illness that might make it hard to participate fully in the study
- You are unwilling to come back for follow-up visits, or to take part in thinking/memory tests, brain stimulation (TMS), or MRI scans
- You have a history of seizures that happened without a clear medical cause
- You have a close blood relative (parent or sibling) with a seizure disorder
- You are currently taking, or plan to take, certain medications that can increase the risk of seizures, including clozapine, high-dose bupropion (over 400mg daily), diphenhydramine, cyclosporine, isoniazid, imipenem, chloroquine, tramadol, or theophylline
- You are currently receiving anti-amyloid treatments (a type of Alzheimer's medication), due to the risk of a side effect that could trigger seizures (confirm with trial site)
