Who might be able to join this trial:
- People of any gender are eligible.
- People between 55 and 65 years of age.
- People who have had an ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel) within the past year.
- People whose stroke affected either the right or left side of the body.
- People who have weakness or paralysis on one side of the body as a result of their stroke.
- People who are currently taking medications such as anti-spasticity drugs, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, or diuretics (water tablets).
- People who are able to walk with some assistance or supervision (a walking ability level of 3 or higher on a standard clinical scale).
- People whose heart rate and blood pressure are considered medically stable.
- People who have not taken part in another research study in the last 3 months.
Who may not be able to join:
- People with severe anaemia (very low red blood cell levels).
- People whose high blood pressure or diabetes is not well controlled.
- People who have recently had heart or chest surgery.
- People with significant cognitive (thinking or memory) difficulties, as measured by a standard memory and thinking test (confirm with trial site).
- People with hearing or vision problems.
- People diagnosed with dementia.
- People with a Modified Rankin Score of 3 or higher, which indicates a moderate to severe level of disability (confirm with trial site).
- People who have a history of seizures.
- People with disorders affecting the muscles, bones, or joints.
- People who have had a stroke or serious head injury within the last 3 months.
- People who have had a specific type of stroke affecting the back of the brain, known as vertebrobasilar stroke.
