Who may be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You had a stroke (where blood flow to the brain was blocked) or a "mini-stroke" (a brief episode with stroke-like symptoms) between January 2022 and July 2023
  • You are between 50 and 89 years old
  • When you were admitted to hospital, doctors could not find a clear cause for your stroke, meaning: a heart ultrasound showed your heart structure and valves appeared normal with no abnormal connections; a 48-hour heart rhythm monitor did not detect an irregular heartbeat; and an ultrasound of the major blood vessels in your neck and head showed no significant problems

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have previously had a bleeding stroke (a stroke caused by bleeding in the brain)
  • You have a history of an irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter
  • You have a permanent medical reason either preventing you from taking blood-thinning medication or requiring you to take it for a different condition
  • You have had a major surgery or a serious heart event within the last month
  • You have a significant heart condition (confirm with trial site for specific details)
  • Your life expectancy is less than one year, or your stroke has left you with very severe disability
