Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 60 years or older.
- People who are in good general health, OR people who have been clinically diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or Alzheimer's disease — where that diagnosis is supported by positive amyloid test results from brain imaging or spinal fluid, taken no more than 3 months before the screening visit.
- People who are able and willing to complete memory and thinking tests, have blood drawn, wear an activity monitor, and keep a daily record of fasting times.
- People whose overnight fasting period is currently less than 12 hours, and who are willing and able to follow an eating schedule that involves fasting for 14 hours overnight.
- For people joining as a "living partner" in the dyad (paired) group, a score above 26 on a standard memory screening test (the MoCA) taken at the screening visit is required.
- All participants must sign and date a consent form and be willing to follow all study procedures for the full duration of the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a diagnosed brain or neurological condition other than MCI or Alzheimer's disease.
- People whose memory or thinking difficulties are caused by something other than Alzheimer's disease.
- People with a clinical diagnosis of diabetes.
- People who have used insulin at any point in the past 6 months.
- People who have started a new medication for MCI or Alzheimer's disease, or had their dose changed, within the 3 months before enrolling.
- People currently taking any medication known to affect appetite, including GLP-1 agonist medications (confirm with trial site for a full list).
- People with any history of disordered eating, including difficulty swallowing or refusing to eat.
- People who currently work shift work.
- People currently taking part in another clinical trial involving an investigational drug.
- People whose Body Mass Index (BMI) is below 20 or above 35.
