Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are a man or woman aged 18 or older
- You have been diagnosed with breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic breast cancer), confirmed by a tissue biopsy
- Your cancer can be any estrogen receptor (ER) type — both ER-positive and ER-negative are allowed
- Your breast cancer tumor (either the original or a spread site) shows at least a low level of a protein called HER2 (scored as 1+) on a laboratory test
- Your cancer can be measured on a scan at the time you start treatment — including cancer that has spread only to bones or to the brain
- You have tissue samples from a previous biopsy available for research testing, including the most recent biopsy from a spread site (confirm with trial site for exact requirements)
- You are planning to start, or have recently started (within the last 30 days), a treatment called T-DXd (also known as Enhertu) at the standard approved dose
- You are able to understand and sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a higher level of HER2 (called HER2-overexpressing), confirmed by a biopsy from a spread site showing a score of 3+, or a score of 2+ with a positive gene amplification test (FISH) — this would make you ineligible
