Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older, of any gender.
- People who have painful, infected dead tissue in the pancreas (caused by severe pancreatitis) that doctors have recommended treating with a procedure done through a flexible camera scope (endoscopy).
- People whose scans show that at least 30% of the affected area in the pancreas contains dead tissue.
- People whose collection of dead pancreatic tissue measures at least 6 cm across and has developed a defined wall around it.
- People who are able to tolerate having the endoscopic procedure done more than once.
- People who are able to understand and sign a consent form agreeing to take part.
- People who are willing and able to attend follow-up appointments for up to 21 days (give or take 7 days) after the procedure.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to provide informed consent.
- People who are unwilling to have the endoscopic procedure repeated.
- People who have a documented swollen or enlarged blood vessel (pseudoaneurysm) larger than 1 cm within the affected area of the pancreas.
- People who have enlarged veins in the stomach wall, or blood vessels in the path the doctor would need to use to access the affected area.
- People who are taking two blood-thinning medications at the same time, or a stronger blood-thinning treatment, that cannot be safely paused for the procedure.
- People who have any other health condition that the trial doctor considers makes endoscopic procedures unsafe for them.
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or — if they are a woman who could become pregnant — are not using a reliable form of contraception.
- People who are currently enrolled in another research trial that could affect the results of this study.
