Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are receiving care for what their doctor suspects is mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early-stage Alzheimer's disease (a formal diagnosis confirmed by lab tests or medical records is not required before screening)
- People who score 21 or higher on a phone-based memory and thinking test called the TICS
- People who have test results (such as a brain scan or spinal fluid or blood test) showing the presence of a protein called amyloid beta in the brain, which is linked to Alzheimer's disease (results from within the past 12 months may be accepted)
- People who have a trusted person in their life — such as a family member or close friend — who is in regular contact with them and is able to take part in phone check-ins every 6 months

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had a stroke in the past and, as a result, are unable to independently perform at least one basic daily activity such as walking, eating, bathing, dressing, or using the toilet (note: people with a mix of dementia types that also involve amyloid protein may still be considered)
- People who currently have, or have recently had, a serious or unstable health condition (other than Alzheimer's disease) that the trial doctor believes could make it difficult to complete the study — for example, a life expectancy of less than 36 months, a need for long-term residential care, or a serious mental health condition
- People who are already enrolled in, or are planning to join, another clinical trial testing an investigational treatment
- People who have medical reasons they cannot receive the drug donanemab, cannot have an MRI scan, or cannot have an amyloid brain scan — this applies only to participants in the donanemab group of the trial
