Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Women aged 18 or older at the time of giving consent
  • People who are able to provide written consent to participate
  • People who have been found to have an ovarian cyst or a mass in the ovary or pelvic area (whether fluid-filled, mixed, or solid) through an imaging scan such as an internal ultrasound, and who need surgery for it but have not yet had that surgery

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have previously been diagnosed with or treated for ovarian cancer
  • People who have previously had surgery that removed both ovaries
  • People with a history of any gynaecological cancer within the last 2 years
  • People with a history of melanoma (a type of skin cancer) within the last 2 years
  • People who have received chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or immunotherapy within the 12 months before their sample would be collected
  • People with a weakened immune system — this includes those with conditions such as HIV/AIDS, autoimmune diseases (such as Lupus), or primary immune deficiency disorders, as well as those who have received immune-suppressing medications (for example, transplant recipients) or have had chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or immunotherapy within the last 12 months
  • People who are currently pregnant or have been pregnant within the last 3 months, based on self-reported information
