Who might be able to join this trial:
- People whose PSA (a prostate-related protein measured in the blood) level is above 4 ng/ml.
- People whose prostate MRI scan shows either a suspicious area rated 4 or higher on a standard scoring system, or a suspicious area rated 3 on that scoring system combined with a relatively high PSA level compared to prostate size.
- People who are willing to undergo a prostate biopsy (a procedure where small tissue samples are taken from the prostate).
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose PSA level is above 20 ng/ml.
- People whose main area of concern on the prostate MRI is located exactly in the centre of the prostate and appears the same on both sides (confirm with trial site).
- People who have a medical reason why a prostate biopsy would not be safe for them.
- People who have previously had a prostate biopsy.
- People who have previously received hormone therapy to lower testosterone (androgen deprivation therapy), radiation treatment to the pelvic area, or other related treatments.
- People who have previously had a surgical procedure to remove prostate tissue from the inside of the urethra (known as TURP).
