Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a woman between 20 and 40 years old who is trying to get pregnant or has been having difficulty getting pregnant, and you are being treated at the clinic running this trial
  • You have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) based on having at least two of these three things: irregular or absent periods, signs of higher-than-normal male hormones (such as excess hair growth or certain blood test results), or polycystic ovaries seen on an ultrasound

  • You are not currently taking part in any other research study, and have not done so in the past 3 months

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or have gone through menopause
  • You are currently taking weight loss medication or have had weight loss surgery in the past 3 months
  • You have any known food allergies
  • You have another medical condition that could cause hormonal imbalances or irregular ovulation (confirm with trial site for specific conditions)
  • You have taken insulin, blood sugar-lowering medicines, or beta-blockers (a type of heart/blood pressure medicine) in the past 3 months
  • You have a long-term condition such as high blood pressure, gout, high uric acid levels, or diabetes that requires regular medication
  • You have taken certain hormonal or metabolism-affecting medications — such as steroids, anti-androgen drugs, the contraceptive pill, ovulation-stimulating drugs, weight loss drugs, or similar — in the past 2 months
  • You have serious liver disease or your liver function blood tests are significantly above the normal range, your kidneys are not working normally, or you have a condition that requires you to limit how much protein you eat
  • You currently have or have previously had a serious heart or brain condition (such as heart failure, heart attack, or stroke) that could affect your ability to take part safely
  • You currently have a serious digestive condition such as a stomach ulcer with bleeding, long-term diarrhoea, or you have had part of your digestive system surgically removed
  • You have certain infectious diseases, including active hepatitis B (HBeAg-positive), active tuberculosis, or HIV
  • You have or have had cancer, or you have received chemotherapy or radiotherapy within the past 5 years
  • You have a mental health or neurological condition that requires medication, including epilepsy or depression
  • You drink more than 15 grams of alcohol per day (roughly one standard drink)
  • You are a smoker
