Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 75 years, of any gender
- People who are experiencing their first-ever minor stroke or TIA (a brief stroke-like episode)
- People who started antiplatelet medication (a type of blood-thinning tablet) within the first 24 hours of their stroke symptoms beginning
- People who are not eligible for the clot-dissolving treatment called rt-PA
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to attend follow-up visits for 90 days after joining the trial
- People whose stroke symptoms were very mild (NIHSS score below 5) or whose symptoms cleared up quickly before brain imaging was completed
- People with a known ongoing or recurring brain or nervous system condition, such as epilepsy, a brain tumour called meningioma, multiple sclerosis, or a past head injury that left lasting neurological effects
- People who had a seizure at the time their stroke began
- People with signs of major organ failure, active cancer, or a heart attack within the past six weeks
- People who were taking warfarin, ticagrelor regularly in the week before admission, or chemotherapy within the past year
- People with an active stomach ulcer, recent gut surgery, or any bleeding episode within the past year
- People who had major surgery within the past three months
- People with a known allergy to any of the study medications
- People with certain abnormal blood test or vital sign results on admission, including blood clotting levels, blood sugar levels, blood pressure, or platelet counts outside of the accepted ranges (confirm with trial site for exact values)
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People whose stroke was caused by a blood clot in a vein (venous thrombosis) rather than an artery
- People whose stroke occurred after a cardiac arrest or a severe drop in blood pressure
- People with any medical reason that makes the study drugs unsuitable for them
