Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are able to give signed written consent to participate
- Adults aged between 18 and 50 years old at the time of screening
- People who have had surgery to reconstruct a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in one knee, within 6 months of the injury occurring
- People who complete their initial assessments between 8 and 12 weeks after their ACL reconstruction surgery
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had a significant injury to a major load-bearing joint (such as a hip, knee, or ankle) within the 12 months before the study starts, not counting the ACL injury itself
- People who have had previous surgeries on the knee being studied, other than the ACL reconstruction
- People whose knee X-ray shows signs of early joint degeneration (arthritis), based on a specific scoring system used by doctors (confirm with trial site)
- People whose physical activity level before their injury was either very low or very high, based on a standard activity scoring scale called the Tegner score (confirm with trial site)
- People with a body mass index (a measure of body weight relative to height) of 30 or above
- People with inflammatory joint diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis
- People whose immune system is weakened, either due to a medical condition or medications
- People with a blood infection (sepsis) or a condition that affects blood clotting
- People with a severe, uncontrolled inflammatory or autoimmune condition, such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease
- People currently being treated for cancer, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or immunotherapy
- People who cannot have an MRI scan, including those with pacemakers, defibrillators, certain metal implants, pregnancy, significant hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), or claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces)
- People who are not able to give their consent freely, such as those under legal guardianship
- People currently enrolled in another clinical trial, or who have not waited long enough after finishing a previous trial involving an investigational drug or device (confirm with trial site for specific timeframe)
- People who have a dependent relationship with the study sponsor, investigator, or study site
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or women of childbearing age who are not using a highly effective method of contraception
- People with substance abuse issues, a psychiatric disorder, or any other condition that, in the investigator's opinion, may affect their ability to communicate properly with the study team
- People who have been placed in an institution by order of a court or government authority
