Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been newly diagnosed with definite or probable ALS (also known as motor neurone disease), based on recognised medical diagnostic guidelines, and are being followed at one of the participating specialist centres
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who are fluent in French
- People who have given verbal agreement to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have an active infection and are currently taking antibiotics at the time of enrolment
- People who have a psychiatric, cognitive, or neurological condition that would make it impossible to assess their food preferences
- People who have a known food allergy
- People who drink 10 or more standard alcoholic drinks per week
- People who stopped smoking less than one month before joining the trial
- People who have severe swallowing difficulties from the outset of their illness, are unable to swallow at all, or are fed entirely through a stomach feeding tube
- People who have severe breathing muscle weakness requiring breathing support (non-invasive ventilation) from the very start of their illness
- People who are not enrolled in or covered by a French social security scheme
- People who are under a legal protection arrangement such as curatorship or guardianship
- People who are subject to any legal protection measure (confirm with trial site)
- Women who are pregnant, in labour, or currently breastfeeding
- Adults who are unable to give informed consent
- People under 18 years of age
