Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis confirmed by symptoms, a physical examination, and X-rays showing a moderate-to-severe level of joint damage (stage III or higher on a standard medical scale)
- You have severe knee pain that limits your daily activities, have already tried other treatments without enough relief, and are scheduled to have a full knee replacement on one knee
- Your knee does not have a severe deformity (confirm with trial site if unsure whether your knee qualifies)
- Your knee replacement surgery will be performed using traditional, manual surgical instruments (not robotic or computer-guided technology)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been taking blood-thinning medications long-term (such as Aspirin, Clopidogrel, Warfarin, or Reserpine) and have not stopped them within the required time before surgery (confirm with trial site)
- You have significant kidney problems, liver problems, serious heart disease (or a heart stent placed in the last 12 months), serious lung disease, a history of blood clots in the veins, a blood clotting disorder, a history of stroke, or a history of cancer
- You have anaemia (low red blood cell levels based on standard guidelines)
- Your knee replacement surgery uses robotic or computer navigation technology to assist the surgeon
- You have other reasons that make a full knee replacement unsafe for you, such as an allergy to metal
