Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older
- You have been recently diagnosed with a condition called ANCA-associated vasculitis (specifically granulomatosis with polyangiitis or microscopic polyangiitis), based on recognised medical definitions
- You have had a positive blood test showing the presence of specific antibodies linked to this condition (called PR3-ANCA or MPO-ANCA)
- You or a family member/representative is able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have already received treatment for ANCA-associated vasculitis before entering the trial
- Your kidneys are very severely affected by this condition, or you are experiencing serious lung bleeding requiring high levels of oxygen
- You have another condition where your immune system attacks your own body (another autoimmune disease affecting multiple parts of the body)
- You are known to have HIV, or have a history of hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or wish to become pregnant
- You have had cancer in the past 5 years, or have any signs of cancer currently
- You have had active tuberculosis (TB) in the past year, or currently show signs of it
- You have had a severe allergic reaction to a type of medication called a monoclonal antibody
- You have another health condition that is likely to need treatment with steroids, immune-suppressing drugs, certain specialist therapies, or similar medications
- You have used a B cell-depleting medication (such as rituximab or belimumab) in the past 6 months
- You have previously taken a medication called avacopan
- You are unable to swallow the trial medications (avacopan and prednisolone) as tablets
- The trial doctor feels there is another reason that makes it inappropriate for you to join (confirm with trial site)
