Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have had their first-ever stroke (either a blockage or a bleed in the brain) on one side of the brain only
  • People who are currently doing inpatient rehabilitation at Jessa Hospital in Herk-de-Stad
  • People who are being considered for the trial within 3 months of their stroke
  • People who are 18 years of age or older
  • People who score 24 or higher (out of 56) on a balance assessment called the Berg Balance Scale at the time of joining
  • People who take 14 seconds or longer to complete a standard stand-up-and-walk test (called the Timed Up-and-Go test) at the time of joining
  • People who are able to walk with some level of assistance or support, meeting a specific walking ability level (called Functional Ambulation Category 3 or higher) at the time of joining (confirm with trial site)
  • People who understand what the study involves and agree in writing to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with significant difficulties with thinking, memory, or communication that would make it hard for them to understand or follow instructions during the study
