Who might be able to join this trial:

• People aged 40 years or older
• People who currently smoke or used to smoke, with a history of at least 10 pack-years of cigarette smoking (this is a measure of how much a person has smoked over time — confirm with trial site if unsure how this applies)
• People who have been diagnosed with COPD by a doctor, confirmed by a breathing test showing a specific result (FEV1/FVC less than 0.7), ranging from mild to very severe COPD
• People with a chronic bronchitis pattern, meaning they have regular sputum (mucus/phlegm) production or a productive cough more than 2 days per week for the past 3 months, lasting at least 2 years in a row — or a cough with phlegm almost every day or several times per week
• People who are able to complete all breathing tests during the study without needing extra oxygen
• People who are able to give their informed consent to participate

Who may not be able to join:

• People who do not have a COPD diagnosis
• People whose main lung condition is bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, or another long-term or acute lung disease involving infection or suppuration
• People who have had a COPD flare-up diagnosed by a doctor, or been hospitalised for lung-related symptoms, in the 4 weeks before the study's baseline testing
• People who currently use, or have used in the past 4 weeks, an oscillating positive expiratory pressure (OPEP) device — a type of airway clearance tool (confirm with trial site if unsure)
• People who are currently taking part in, or have taken part in, a standard Pulmonary Rehabilitation program in the 4 weeks before baseline testing, or who plan to do so during the study
