Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are willing to sign a consent form and agree to follow all study procedures for the full duration of the trial
- You are male and 18 years of age or older
- You have been diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic prostate cancer)
- Your prostate cancer has continued to grow or spread while you were receiving treatment to lower testosterone (either through medication or surgery)
- Your prostate cancer has continued to grow or spread even while taking certain hormone-blocking medications (such as enzalutamide, apalutamide, darolutamide, or abiraterone acetate)
- Your doctor has already decided that you should start a chemotherapy treatment called docetaxel along with a steroid called prednisone
- Your blood counts are at an acceptable level, meaning your immune cells and platelets are high enough (confirm with trial site)
- Your liver is functioning well enough, based on blood test results (confirm with trial site)
- Your kidneys are functioning well enough, based on blood test results (confirm with trial site)
- You are expected to live for at least 6 months or more
- You are willing to stop drinking tea or taking quercetin supplements during the study, except for the green tea extract and quercetin provided as part of the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously received chemotherapy or radiation therapy to treat your metastatic prostate cancer
- You have another health condition that would make it unsafe for you to take the chemotherapy drug docetaxel with prednisone
- You currently have an ongoing problem with alcohol abuse
- You have a serious medical or mental health condition that could make participating in this study difficult or unsafe
- You have had an allergic reaction to tea, tea products, or quercetin supplements in the past
- You have allergies to multiple foods or nutritional supplements
