Who might be able to join this trial:
Disease group (people with schizophrenia):
- People who have been diagnosed by a doctor with schizophrenia, whose condition is stable, and whose medication dose has not changed and who have not been admitted to a psychiatric acute care unit in the past 3 months
- People aged between 18 and 65 years old
- People who can understand, speak, read, and write Mandarin or Taiwanese
Control group (people without schizophrenia):
- People with no history of long-term illness and no acute symptoms in the past month
- People aged between 18 and 65 years old
- People who can understand, speak, read, and write Mandarin or Taiwanese
Who may not be able to join:
Disease group:
- People who have heart or blood vessel conditions, serious brain or nervous system disorders (such as organic brain disorders or dementia), or substance abuse problems
- People who have taken medications that affect the body's automatic nervous functions in the past month — such as mood stabilisers, antidepressants, blood pressure medications (ACE inhibitors), beta-blockers, or heart rhythm medications
- People who have metal implants in their body that could interfere with heart rate measurements
- People who experience involuntary, uncontrollable body tremors
- Women who are currently having their menstrual period
- Women who are pregnant
Control group:
- People who have heart or blood vessel conditions, serious brain or nervous system disorders (such as organic brain disorders or dementia), or substance abuse problems
- People who have taken medications that affect the body's automatic nervous functions in the past month — such as psychiatric medications, blood pressure medications (ACE inhibitors), beta-blockers, or heart rhythm medications
- People who have metal implants in their body that could interfere with heart rate measurements
- People who experience involuntary, uncontrollable body tremors
