Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women who have gone through menopause, were born female, and have been diagnosed with stage I, II, or III breast cancer, and have been taking aromatase inhibitor medication for at least 3 months before the study begins
- People with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher (a measure of body weight relative to height)
- People who report eating three main meals per day
- People who report being mostly inactive — meaning less than 30 minutes per week of moderate or vigorous exercise, and doing muscle-strengthening activities less than twice per week, over the past three months
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unwilling or unable to get medical clearance from a doctor after being checked for signs of heart disease, diabetes, or kidney disease, or who are assessed as not safe to begin exercise — including those who experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath at rest or with light activity, dizziness or fainting, swollen ankles, irregular or fast heartbeat, leg pain when walking, a known heart murmur, or unusual tiredness during everyday activities
- People who are currently taking medication to manage diabetes (such as insulin, Ozempic, or metformin) or who have lost more than 5 kg in the past 3 months for any reason
- People who have an injury or other reason that would prevent them from completing a 30-minute continuous walk or muscle-strengthening exercises
- People without access to an Ontario LifeLabs location for a fasting blood test (one taken after not eating overnight)
- People who do not have a smartphone that works with the apps required for the study
- People who are unable to read, understand, or communicate in English
