Who might be able to join this trial:

• Adults between 18 and 80 years old (inclusive) at the time of signing the consent form, both men and women
• People who have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (a type of inflammatory bowel condition affecting the large intestine) for at least 3 months before the screening visit, confirmed by camera examination of the bowel and tissue testing
• People whose previous biologic or targeted treatment (a type of specialist medication) did not work well enough, stopped working, caused side effects, or was stopped for any other reason
• Women who could become pregnant must be willing and able to use highly effective contraception, and men must be willing to use condoms during the trial

Who may not be able to join:

• People diagnosed with other types of bowel conditions, including indeterminate colitis, ischemic colitis, radiation colitis, colitis related to diverticular disease, microscopic colitis, or Crohn's disease
• People whose bowel examination shows signs that suggest Crohn's disease, such as fistulae (abnormal connections between body parts) or granulomas (small areas of inflammation found in tissue samples)
• People with moderate or severe abnormal cell changes in the lining of the colon, or colon polyps that have not been fully removed
• People with cancer of the digestive tract, a liver condition called primary sclerosing cholangitis, or a known narrowing of the colon
• People showing signs of severe, rapidly worsening colitis or a dangerous condition called toxic megacolon at the time of screening
• People who currently have a surgically created pouch or opening for bowel function (such as an ileostomy or colostomy), or a known fixed blockage in the intestine
• People who have had previous surgery for ulcerative colitis, or for whom surgery is planned (though exceptions may be considered by the doctor in discussion with the trial sponsor)
• People who currently have or have previously had abscesses (pockets of infection), unless the abscess was fully drained and treated at least 6 weeks before the first trial medication and further surgery is not expected
