Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who understand what the trial involves, are willing to take part, and are able to follow the study requirements (including signing a consent form)
- People aged 18 to 70 years old (inclusive)
- Cancer group — People diagnosed with one of the following types of ovarian cancer: high-grade serous ovarian cancer, low-grade serous ovarian cancer, endometrioid ovarian cancer, or clear cell carcinoma, who are starting treatment for the first time and have complete medical records
- Cancer group participants must have a general health/activity level rated between 0 and 3 on a standard scale, and a life expectancy of more than 6 months (confirm with trial site)
- Cancer group participants must be willing to have a blood sample taken for a special type of analysis called SERS, which is provided free of charge
- Cancer group participants must have organs that are functioning well enough to meet the study requirements
- Normal control group — People who are having surgery for a non-cancerous (benign) condition, have complete medical records, and have not had any major treatment for that benign condition before the blood sample is taken
Who may not be able to join:
- People with severe or uncontrolled health conditions, such as uncontrollable nausea or vomiting, serious digestive problems, serious heart disease, certain infections (including syphilis, HIV/AIDS, active hepatitis B or C), active abscesses, active rheumatic diseases, or mental health conditions that would prevent a person from signing the consent form
- People who have had a blood transfusion within the 4 weeks before the study begins
- People who are pregnant, have recently given birth, are breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant during the study
- People who have a history of any other type of cancer
- People whom the trial doctor considers unsuitable for participation for any other reason
