Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 19 years or older
- People who have had a small vessel stroke confirmed by brain imaging (MRI or CT) in the deeper parts of the brain or brainstem
- People whose confirmed stroke caused symptoms and occurred within the last 180 days (about 6 months) before enrolling in the trial
- People (or their legal guardians) who agree to the study procedures and sign a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People who, due to another health condition, require their LDL cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol) to be kept below 70 mg/dL according to medical guidelines for that condition
- People for whom statin medications are not medically appropriate — for example, those with active liver disease, significantly elevated liver enzyme levels, muscle disorders, an allergy or sensitivity to statins, or who take other medications that cannot be safely combined with statins
- Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study period
- People whom the trial investigators consider unsuitable for participating in a study lasting more than four years, for any reason
