Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have been clinically diagnosed with their first-ever ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel), where symptoms started less than 72 hours before being enrolled in the study
- People who have been admitted to the stroke unit at UZ Brussel hospital
- People who are able to participate in memory and thinking assessments
- People who are fluent in Dutch or French
- People who are able to have an EEG (a test that measures brain activity) within the first 24 hours after stroke symptoms began
- People who are able to have an MRI scan of the brain
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a history of epilepsy
- People who have a pre-existing growth or mass in the brain (except for a small meningioma, which is a usually non-cancerous tumour — confirm with trial site)
- People who are pregnant or who wish to become pregnant
- People who have severe difficulties with language or dementia that would prevent them from completing the thinking and memory assessments
- People whose life expectancy is less than one year
