Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who are at least 12 years old
• People who weigh at least 40 kg (approximately 88 pounds)
• People who have had a confirmed asthma diagnosis for at least 1 year
• People who have been taking a medium or high dose of inhaled corticosteroid (a common asthma preventer medication) for at least 6 months, and consistently for at least 3 months

• People who have had at least one serious asthma attack in the 12 months before screening
• People who are able to consistently complete a daily electronic diary during the trial

• People who are willing to voluntarily sign a consent form to take part

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have another medical condition that could also cause high eosinophil levels in the blood
• People who have other significant lung diseases besides asthma
• People who have an immune deficiency disease
• People who have other significant medical conditions that could affect lung function
• People who have severe heart or blood vessel disease that is not well controlled
• People who have high blood pressure or diabetes that is not well controlled
• People who had an asthma flare-up, allergic rhinitis, sinus attack, or a significant infection requiring treatment within 4 weeks before being assigned to a treatment group
• People who have recently had major surgery, have surgery planned during the study, or are receiving other treatments the study doctor believes could affect the results
• People who currently have a parasitic infection
• People who have been diagnosed with cancer within the 5 years before joining the trial
• People who have significantly abnormal blood test results at the screening or baseline visits
• People whose heart rhythm test (ECG) shows a specific abnormality called QTc prolongation at the screening or baseline visits
• People who have used certain medications that are not permitted in the period leading up to joining the trial (confirm with trial site for the specific list)
• People who have taken part in another clinical trial within 30 days before screening and received an experimental drug, or whose body has not yet fully cleared a previous experimental drug
