Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have signed an informed consent form agreeing to take part in the study
- People who have had an ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel) within the last 24 hours
- People whose stroke has been confirmed as mild by a brain CT or MRI scan, with a stroke severity score (NIHSS) of 8 or less, and no sign of a large area of brain damage on imaging
- People who have had a high-risk TIA (transient ischemic attack, sometimes called a "mini-stroke") with a risk score (ABCD) greater than 4
- People whose stroke or TIA was not caused by a heart-related source of clots (such as a weak heart pump, a narrowed heart valve, or an irregular heart rhythm like atrial fibrillation)
- People whose stroke or TIA does not have a specific identified cause such as a torn blood vessel wall (dissection) or inflammation of the blood vessels (vasculitis)
- People who do not have a significant narrowing (more than 50%) of the main neck artery on the side affected by the stroke
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a known allergy or sensitivity to the study drug being used in the trial
- People who need to take blood-thinning medication (anticoagulants) for any reason
- People who received clot-busting treatment through a drip (IV thrombolysis) or a procedure to physically remove a clot (thrombectomy) during the acute phase of their stroke
- People for whom the study drug is otherwise medically unsuitable (confirm with trial site)
- People with a history of bleeding inside the brain (intracranial hemorrhage)
- People who have had bleeding in the stomach or digestive tract in the past 6 months
- People who are being considered for a surgical procedure to clear a blocked neck artery (endarterectomy)
- People with a history of a blood clotting disorder (coagulopathy)
- People who are actively experiencing abnormal or uncontrolled bleeding at the time of enrolment
