Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between 18 and 65 years old who are scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) gallbladder removal surgery using keyhole (laparoscopic) techniques under general anaesthesia
- People who have been assessed by an anaesthesiologist as being in generally good to moderate overall health (classified as ASA I, II, or III)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a blood clotting disorder

- Cases where the keyhole surgery needs to be converted to open (traditional) surgery during the procedure

- People who regularly use opioid (strong pain relief) medicines
- People who are pregnant
- People with a history of alcohol or drug misuse
- People with a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or above (a measure of weight relative to height)
- People with conditions that affect thinking or memory, such as Alzheimer's disease or dementia
- People requiring gallbladder removal as an emergency procedure
